Generic Name : SOFOSBUVIR AND VELPATASVIR

ABSTRACT –

Epclusa is a combination drug that is used to treat specific genotypes of chronic hepatitis C in particular adults. This drug is used by patients who are suffering from HIV/AIDS to reduce the symptoms or curb the spread of physical infections. Epclusa is also used with ribavirin to treat patients with advanced cirrhosis. Classified as an antiviral combination, Epclusa is composed of Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir that are used to prevent the multiplication of hepatitis C virus within the body.

DOSAGE –

  • Epclusa is to be taken as directed by the doctors. Consume this drug only as prescribed to avoid overdose or other harmful effects. Do not stop consuming this drug suddenly, so as to avoid serious side effects.
  • This oral tablet is to be taken once a day, with or without food for 12 weeks.

  • Tablet – 100mg/400mg

PRECAUTIONS –

  • Provide the doctor with a detailed and accurate medical history prior to drug prescription. Notify especially in case of illnesses such as hepatitis B, liver/kidney problems, HIV/AIDS or in case of the use of a blood thinner.
  • Do not consume this drug in case of an allergy to the components of this drug.
  • Inform the doctor of all the drugs being consumed so as to avoid severe drug interactions.
  • Cooperate with regular blood tests to ensure regular health.
  • Avoid taking omeprazole/any antacid for as long as 4 hours after a dose of Epclusa.
  • Do not nurse while on drug course as it may not be safe for the newborn.

WARNINGS –

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • This medication cannot be used to treat HIV/AIDS itself.
  • Use more than one form of birth control to prevent pregnancies while on drug course.
  • In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
