10 minutes Cancer Spotting Test
19 Nov 2019
University of Queensland, Australia, claims successfully creating a 10 minutes medical test that can spot any cancer types. Blood sample is taken and examined for methyl groups pattern that form around the DNA. Test samples were examined achieving 90% accuracy in detecting breast, prostate, bowel and lymphoma cancers. Methyl groups in normal DNA and cancer DNA appears different. Normal cells have methyl group spread all over but in cancer cells clusters are formed at specific places. It is yet to get validations for human trials and can be helpful and time saving in earlier cancer detection than the biopsy method.
