ABSTRACT –

Genvoya is a combination drug that consists of Cobicistat, Elvitegravir, Emtricitabine and Tenofovir – the latter three of the four being antiviral components that prevent the multiplication of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) within the body, while cobicistat reduces the break-down action of the liver upon antiviral medications, allowing them to function. This drug is used predominantly in the preventive treatment of HIV / AIDS in adults and children of minimum age of 12.

DOSAGE –

• Genvoya is to be taken as directed by the doctors. Consume this drug only as prescribed to avoid overdose or other harmful effects.
• This drug is consumed once per day with food. And it is to be used regularly for effective results.
• General Adult Dosage available:

Oral – Elvitegravir 150mg, Cobicistat 150mg, Emtricitabine 200mg, Tenofovir Alafenamide Fumarate 10mg – 1 tablet

PRECAUTIONS –

• Provide the doctor with a detailed and accurate medical history prior to drug prescription. Notify especially in case of illnesses and conditions such as kidney disease, bone problems or hepatitis B.
• Do not use this drug in case of an allergy to any of the components of Genvoya.
• Inform the doctor of all the drugs being consumed so as to avoid severe drug interactions. Notify especially of the use of drugs such as alfuzosin, cisapride, rifampin, St. John’s wort, antipsychotic drugs, cholesterol medications or seizures medications.
• This drug can be rendered ineffective in case of pregnancy. Consult a doctor as to the use of this drug during gestation.
• Do not breast feed while suffering from AIDS.

WARNINGS –

• Keep out of reach of children.
• This drug can harm the liver. Consult a doctor regarding this risk, and take regular check-ups to ensure proper function of the liver.
• This drug may lead to lactic acidosis, causing a dangerous build-up of lactic acid within the body. Consult a doctor regarding the risks of the same.
• This drug is not a cure to AIDS.
• In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
