Apraxia of Speech
26 Mar 2019
When the neural pathway between a person’s brain and a person’s speech muscles is disrupted or blocked due to some reason, Apraxia of Speech or AOS happens. In this condition, the person, even when he is fully aware of what he wants to say, is unable to say it articulately. This is a progressive nervous disease. Even though the cause for adult AOS is brain damage, the cause for childhood AOS is still unknown to scientists. Symptoms of AOS include speech irregularities and mispronunciation, difficulty in emphasis. In some cases, AOS recovers spontaneously ; in some cases, speech language therapy sessions prove useful for treatment.
