New Compound to Replace Cisplatin for Resistant Cancers
New Compound to Replace Cisplatin for Resistant Cancers: Chemotherapy and cisplatin drug are the most commonly used effective defence against tumors. However, some cancers may be resistant or can grow resistance against cisplatin. Researchers from University of Sheffield's successfully found a compound that can be used against these resistant cancers, which was active against cancer cells and had low toxicity towards non-malignant cells. This compound works differently than cisplatin and it’ll be difficult for cancer cells to develop resistance and is particularly effective against ovarian cancer. Now research is on to mix this compound with other treatments to evolve improved treatment that can be highly beneficial and effective.
