The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) is conducting research to develop pocket friendly cannabis based drugs. These are meant to be for the treatment of cancer, epilepsy, and sickle cell anaemia. The cultivation of cannabis is being carried out at IIIM research station located in Jammu.  They have also collaborated with a Mumbai based firm BOHECO. An Indian government official also supported the initiative and talked about the use and misuse of cannabis. Experts also talked about the importance of this narcotic commodity {under the NDPS act}.
