Dulera
Dulera is an oral inhalation drug that is used by the patients of asthma to ease their breathing. The medication works actively for reducing the symptoms that are caused by asthma like short breathing, wheezing. The drug is a combination of two active components, mometasone and formoterol. Mometasone belongs to the class of drugs called corticosteroids, reduces irritation and also any kind of welling in the airways. Formoterol belongs to the class of drugs called long-acting beta agonist which helps in better breathing by expanding the airways present in the lungs.

- Dulera has to be taken as directed by the doctors.
- Remember to shake the drug prior to every inhalation.
- The drug must be administered only through oral inhalation for a maximum of two inhalations (morning and evening) every day.
- Adult dosages:
Medium dosage- 100 mcg/5 mcg, 2 inhalations twice daily

PRECAUTIONS –
- Pharmacist must be consulted before the consumption of this drug as it contains components and inactive ingredients which may lead to allergic reactions.
- Any medical history regarding high blood pressure, heart disease, eye problems should be disclosed to the doctor.
- If the patients have low level of magnesium or potassium in the blood, then it may lead to the risk of QT prolongation.
- The drug might slow down the growth in children if used for a very long period of time so use after consultation.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION WITH DULERA:
- Use of Dulera in pregnancy may be acceptable only if the benefits exceeds the risks.
- Do not nurse while on drug course, as this drug may transfer through breast milk and may harm a newborn.
WARNINGS –
- This drug has to be used regularly for effective results. In case of sudden asthma attacks prescribed inhalers should be used.
- Dulera contains LABA and when LABA is consumed alone, it increases the risk of hospitalization and even death. Hence, usage should be based on consultation.
- Any exposure to measles and chicken pox should be avoided.
- Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
