Ecotrin
Ecotrin is a medication which is used to treat symptoms involving fever, mild to moderate pain like body pain, headache and muscle cramps. It also treats the pain and swelling in patients suffering from arthritis. Aspirin is also called as salicylate and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). The drug works by blocking the development of certain natural substances for reducing pain and swelling.
DOSAGE –

- Ecotrin has to be taken as directed by the doctors.
- Adult and pediatric dosages:
Oral- 300 mg to 650 mg every 4-6 hours as needed; Maximum dose- 4 g in 24 hours

- Rectal- 300 mg to 600 mg every 4 hours
- Pediatric dosages:
Oral- 300 mg to 650 mg every 4-6 hours as needed; Maximum dose- 4 g in 24 hours
- Rectal- this dose should be avoided because of the risk of developing Reye’s syndrome.
SIDE EFFECTS –
- Abdominal or stomach pain with cramps
- Black, tarry stools
- Bloody or cloudy urine
- Change in consciousness
- Chest pain or discomfort
- Confusion
- Constipation
- Dark urine
- Decreased frequency or amount of urine
- Diarrhea
- Difficulty in breathing
- Drowsiness
- Faintness
- Fast breathing
- Fever
- Tiredness and weakness
- Headache
- Heartburn
- Increased thirst
- Indigestion
RARE SIDE EFFECTS:
- Acidic or sour stomach
- Anxiety
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Hyperventilation
- Irritability
- Discomfort or pain in stomach
- Trouble in sleeping
- Unusual drowsiness and dullness
