Ertapenem drug works as an antibiotic in the body to treat bacteria. The medication is commonly known as carbapenem-type antibiotic which works by stopping the growth of bacterial infections in the body. The drug treats the symptoms of different severe infections of stomach, skin, urinary tract, lungs, and pelvis.
DOSAGE –

- Ertapenem has to be taken as directed by the doctors.
- Adult dosages:
- Pediatric dosages:
1 gram IV or IM once daily for 5 to 14 days
3 months to 12 years: 15 mg/kg IV or IM every 12 hours
- 13 years or older: 1 gram IV or IM once daily for 5 to 14 days
