Ferrous Gluconate is used as an iron supplement to help the patients retrieve low levels of iron in blood which may be caused due to anemia or pregnancy. This medication helps to maintain good health as iron is a responsible mineral for making red blood cells in the body.
DOSAGE –
- Ferrous Gluconate has to be taken as directed by the doctors.
- Adult dosages:
Tablet: 960 mg per day for 3 months.
SIDE EFFECTS –
- Rash
- Swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- Black, tarry, or bloody stools
- Fever
- Wheezing
- Tightness in the chest or throat
- Gastrointestinal discomfort
- Diarrhea
- Trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking
- Unusual hoarseness
- Fecal impaction
- Nausea
- Heartburn
- Constipation
- Gastrointestinal necrosis
RARE SIDE EFFECTS:
- Belly pain
- Diarrhea
- Upset stomach
- Constipation
- Change in color of stool to green
