Fish oil is used as a capsule medication that contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. These acids are produced in oils from different types of fishes, plants and vegetables. This medication helps to lower the level of triglyceride in the blood. Not only this, fish oil also helps patients having problems like heart disease, stroke, bypass surgery, high blood pressure, and transplants. It improves the immunity of the body and improves muscle strength.

PRECAUTIONS –
- This drug contains inactive ingredients which may result in allergic reactions. So a pharmacist must be consulted before consuming it.
- It is of utmost necessity to discuss any medical history related to diabetes, pancreas disorder, underactive thyroid, and liver disease.
- Avoid consuming large amounts of alcoholic beverages.
- It is not recommended to puncture the fish oil capsule while consuming it. It needs to be swallowed.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION WITH FISH OIL:
- Use of Fish Oil in pregnancy may be acceptable only if the benefits exceed the risks involved.
- Studies in animal pregnancy have shown adverse effects on fetus. But no adequate studies have been found in humans to access the damage involved.
- Fish Oil transfers into breast milk. Preferable precautions must be taken during breast feeding.
WARNINGS –
- Reach your doctor immediately if any of the severe signs occur like difficulty in breathing; swelling on lips, throat, and tongue; and rashes.
- This medication should not be administered to anyone below 18 years of age.
- Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
