Glyxambi
Glyxambi is a product of two different drugs, Empagliflozin and Linagliptin used in type 2 diabetic patients. It is used for controlling high blood sugar level in the body along with controlled diet and exercise. As a result, the drug helps to reduce symptoms like kidney damage, loss of vision and limbs, problems in sexual intercourse, and nervous disorders. Empagliflozin is responsible for removing excess of sugar from the kidneys. Linagliptin is used for enhancing the amount of natural substances in the body called incretins.
DOSAGE –
- Glyxambi has to be taken as directed by the doctors.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- Adult and pediatric dosages: Oral Tablet: 15 mg to 30 mg once every day

Glyxambi has moderate interactions with 363 different drugs.
PRECAUTIONS –
- This drug contains inactive ingredients which may result in allergic reactions. So a pharmacist must be consulted before consuming it.
- It is necessary to discuss any medical history related to kidney and liver disease, yeasts infections in genital organs of male and female, severe dehydration, substance use, gallbladder stones, low blood pressure and heart strokes
- This drug makes a person dizzy because of very high or low blood sugar level. So activities like driving and others which need more attention should be avoided.
- Use of this drug show more sensitive symptoms on older adults like confusion, drowsiness, or constipation.
- Avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages as it increases the danger of high level of ketone and low level of sugar in blood
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION WITH GLYXAMBI:
- Use of Glyxambi in pregnancy may be acceptable only if the benefits exceed the risks involved.
- Studies in animal pregnancy have shown adverse effects on fetus. But no adequate studies have been found in humans to access the damage involved.
- It is not known if Glyxambi transfers into breast milk. Preferable precautions must be taken during breast feeding.
WARNINGS –
- Use of this medication is not considered effective in treatment of type 1 diabetes.
- Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
