The drug is a kind of antihistamine which works in the body by restricting the production of natural substance called histamine during allergic reactions. - Studies in animal pregnancy have shown adverse effects on fetus. But no adequate studies have been found in humans to access the damage involved.
- It is not known if Hydroxyzine transfers into breast milk. Preferable precautions must be taken during breast feeding.

- The drug increases the risk of irregular heartbeats which further leads to adverse symptoms like fainting.
