ABSTRACT –

Common Cold is an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection caused due to virus which may include almost 100 different variations of them. It mostly affects preschool children which usually gets recovered in a week or two. Over the counter drugs are usually used to cure this infection. Common Cold may spread by contact transmission or droplet transmission.

CAUSES –

Causes of Absence Seizures are unclear but it can be caused by:

  • Enterovirus
  • Human Parainfluenza Virus
  • Human metapneumovirus
  • Coronaviruses adenovirus
  • Human respiratory syncytial virus

RISK FACTORS –

  • Age – Infants and young children
  • Weather Change
  • Low immunity
  • Genetics
  • Stress

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS –

  • Runny Nose
  • Watery Eyes
  • Cough
  • Low temperature Fever
  • Continuous sneezing
  • Mild Headache
  • Loss of appetite
  • Bad Breath
  • Chest pain
  • Sore Throat
  • Breathing issues

DIAGNOSIS –

  • Physical Examination
  • Blood Test
  • X-ray

TREATMENT –

PREVENTION –

  • Maintain hygiene
  • Use of disinfectants wherever required
  • Use handkerchief while sneezing
  • Avoid contact with people since common cold is contagious

EPIDEMIOLOGY –

  • On an average, young children get affected for 6-8 times and adults get affected for almost 2-4 times in a year.
  • 25% of the cases last up to 2 to 3 weeks.
