PGI, Chandigarh has developed a new nuclear test for last stage Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) patients costing only Rs. 500 per month now which was Rs. 7000 earlier. This test is carried out to check relapse of tumour every 3 months. Moreover this test can easily be carried out in rural areas as it doesn’t involve use of complex cyclotron machines. Prof. Baljinder Singh, Department Of Nuclear Medicine, PGI said that this kit uses Tc-99 m DTPA-bis methionine having half-life of 6 hours and is less costly. This kit has been tested on about 300 patients over 4 years and tested successfully.
