EYELID CANCER

About 90% of the eyelid cancers are basal cell skin cancer type with most occurrences in age group of 50 to 80 years. The eyelid cancer is defined to be the fatty substance that begins in the eye layer as carcinomas and spread to other parts of the eye area. The early signs include a spreading growth on the eyelid that can be red, brown or black, broken skin on the eyelid that does not heal, eyelashes loss, change in appearance of the eyelid skin and chronic infection of the eyelid. The causes may be genetic mutations, hereditary factors, personal medical history, UV exposure, age, and fair skin tone. Treatments includes surgery, eye removal, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, cryosurgery, and radiation retinopathy. Other methods depends on the cancer stage.
