ABSTRACT –
Fenofibrate is a fibric acid derivate medication drug that is generally classified as a ‘fibrate’. This drug is used to treat high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the body, thus reducing the risk of atherosclerosis.
DOSAGE –
-
- Fenofibrate is to be taken as directed by the doctors. Consume this drug only as prescribed to avoid overdose or other harmful effects.
- This drug is generally consumed whole (without breaking) with food.
- General Adult Dosage available:
Oral – 130mg, 145mg, 150mg (once a day)

PRECAUTIONS –
- Provide the doctor with a detailed and accurate medical history prior to drug prescription. Notify especially in case of illnesses and conditions such as kidney/liver disease or problems with the gallbladder.
- Follow a low cholesterol diet with ample amounts of exercise to observe effective results.
- Do not use this drug in case of an allergy to Fenofibrate itself, or in case of severe kidney/liver disease.
- Inform the doctor of all the drugs being consumed so as to avoid severe drug interactions. Notify especially in case of the consumption of colchicine, warfarin or drugs that weaken the immune system.
- Do not use this drug while nursing; and avoid breastfeeding for as long as 5 days after last dose of Fenofibrate.
- Cooperate with regular medical tests to measure the efficiency of this drug and ensure regular health.
- Avoid alcohol as it may increase levels of triglyceride in the body.
WARNINGS –
- Keep out of reach of children. This drug is not approved for anyone under the age of 18.
- This drug can cause the rapid breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, eventually leading to kidney failure. Consult a doctor regarding the risks of consuming Fenofibrate.
- In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
