Generic Name : FOSINOPRIL

ABSTRACT –

This drug is used by patients who have the problem of high blood pressure. It works in the body by lowering the blood pressure and reducing the risk of strokes, kidney problems, and heart failures. The medication is used to treat heart failures. The medicine plays the role of ACE inhibitor and relaxes the blood vessels to facilitate smooth blood circulation.

DOSAGE –

  • Fosinopril has to be taken as directed by the doctors
  • Adult dosages:
    Oral Tablet: 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg
    Recommended dose: 10 mg once a day

PRECAUTIONS –

  • Diabetic patients should not use this drug with any kind of medication that has Aliskiren.
  • This drug contains inactive ingredients which may result in allergic reactions. So a pharmacist must be consulted before consuming it.
  • It is necessary to discuss with your doctor about any medical history related to kidney disease, liver disease, any connective tissue disease, or a person on a low salt diet.
  • Since this drug makes a person dizzy so activities like driving and others which need more caution should be avoided
  • Avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages like marijuana.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION WITH FOSINOPRIL:

  • Use of Fosinopril in pregnancy is not recommended at all as it may have adverse effects on fetus.
  • Studies in animal pregnancy have shown adverse effects on fetus. But no adequate studies have been found in humans to access the damage involved.
  • Fosinopril transfers into breast milk. Breast-feeding should be completely avoided

WARNINGS –

  • Do not give this drug to child below the age of 6 years.
  • Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
