Hemorrhoids is a condition wherein the pre-existing hemorrhoidal column tissues already present in the utero may enlarge, inflame, thrombosed or prolapsed. Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels in the lower rectum and are one of the most common cause of anal pathology. Symptoms include pruritus and rectal bleeding. Hemorrhoidal bleeding is arterial and not venous. There are two types, external and internal based on their origin. Some risk factors thought to be behind the development of hemorrhoids and could be obesity, colon malignancy, chronic diarrhea, lack of erect posture, spinal cord injury, loss of rectal muscle tone, rectal surgery and anal intercourse among others. Most hemorrhoid resolve spontaneously or with conservative medical therapy alone.
