Generic Name :IBRUTINIB


Ibrutinib is used to treat certain types of cancers like mantle cell lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia. The drug falls under the class of drugs which are commonly known as kinase inhibitors. The drug works in the body by preventing the growth of cells that cause cancer in the body. Further, the medicine is also helpful in treating symptoms which occur due to stem cell transplant. It does so by weakening the immunity system of the body.

  • This drug contains inactive ingredients which may result in allergic reactions. So a pharmacist must be consulted before consuming it.
  • It is necessary to discuss any medical history related to kidney and liver problems, heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, bleeding problems, and high level of uric acid in the blood.
  • Since this drug makes a person dizzy so activities like driving and others which need more attention should be avoided.
  • The use of this drug may lead to worsening of current infections. Therefore cleanliness should be maintained.
  • Use of this drug show more sensitive symptoms on adults like irregular heartbeat rate, low level of red blood cells, and high blood pressure.
  • Avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages.


  • Use of Ibrutinib in pregnancy may be acceptable only if the benefits exceed the risks involved.
  • Studies in animal pregnancy have shown adverse effects on fetus. But no adequate studies have been found in humans to access the damage involved.
  • It is not known if Ibrutinib transfers into breast milk. Preferable precautions must be taken during breast feeding.

  • It is not recommended to get any kind of vaccinations or immunizations while using this drug.
