Padma Shri award for Dr Ramanathan V Ramani of Sankara Eye Foundation

The Government of India has awarded the prestigious Padma Shri Award to Dr Ramanathan V Ramani, Founder and Managing Trustee of Sankara Eye Foundation for his work in the medical services field.
Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust was established by Dr. R.V. Ramani in 1977 which later became a registered public charitable trust. With this trust, he had introduced about 10 super speciality eye hospitals in 7 states of India.
Sankara eye hospitals, one of the largest speciality eye hospitals in India, have performed about 1.8 million surgeries for free which impacts positive beneficiaries in many rural areas.
