The Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder caused by the destruction of the dopamine cells in the brain which in turn affects the movement of a person. Mostly found in people aged 60 or above, it is a disease which initiates with trembling and shivering and later results in slow and inhibited movement. This progressive disease is characterized rigidity of muscles, imbalance in posture, slow reflexes along with dexterity and speech impairment.
The Parkinson’s disease has no cure as of now, however medication and treatment is recommended by doctors to provide relief to the patient and to facilitate to perform basic movements. Physiotherapy is an effective way of improvement in movement of patient.
The cause helps doctors in finding the cure. However, the causes resulting in Parkinson’s are an enigma. Major causes of Parkinson’s as deduced by scientists are genes transmitted from ancestors and exposure to toxic pollutants and chemicals. In addition, the presence of Lewy Bodies inside the brain cells can deteriorate the basic functionality of neural cells, hence causing difficulty in movement as well. Since the causes to Parkinson’s are not definite, most doctors suggest the practice of a fit and healthy lifestyle to avoid the Parkinson’s disease.
