The spinal cord is the prime communication between the brain and the body. The spinal cord itself has millions of neurons. These neurons take messages from skin, muscles, joints, and internal organs to the spinal cord for indicating the sensations of pain, touch, vibration, and temperature. The spinal cord is divided into 5 sections namely:
The spinal nerves are connected from both the sides of the spinal cord at 62 different levels. These 62 spinal nerves divide into two roots: Dorsal Root and Ventral Root. The adult spinal cord is 44 cm in length and is wide as the thumb finger at the top and as a thin drinking straw as the bottom.
