Risk of Fatty Liver may be reduced by Green Leafy Vegetables
06 Jan 2019
Study from Karolinska Institute, Sweden has found that a diet with more green, leafy vegetables may reduce the risk of fatty liver or liver steatosis. As of now, fatty liver has no treatment and could worsen to liver cirrhosis or liver cancer. Main causes of fatty liver are overweight and alcoholism. These researchers, after laboratory tests have found that inorganic nitrate in vegetables is the key to reduce fat deposition in liver. Now they plan to focus more on nitrate’s effect in therapeutics as it has never been studied broadly before. This could open paths to new ways of treatment.
