Knee pains can be real deal breakers. Stiffness with or without swelling hampers even day-to-day works. A common solution to these problems now a days is Total Knee Replacement. It is an easily prescribed procedure but now doctors are saying otherwise. One in every five patients doesn’t need them. Physiotherapy or Arthroscopic Surgery or partial knee replacement could be alternatives to TKR. Dr Rajesh Malhotra, Professor and Head of Orthopaedics at AIIMS said that if a person can walk up to 500 meters or stand for 30 minutes without pain, he/she doesn’t need immediate surgery.
