TENFOLD RISE OF CHIKUNGUNYA

Over 2017, there is an increase in mysterious fever in the areas of Telangana and tenfold jump of Chikungunya. The National Vector Borne Disease Control Program has reported that the cases has risen from 36 in 2017 to 380 in 2018. The slum areas of Balapur, Babanagar, and Shahennagar have been recorded for showing symptoms of dengue and chikungunya, says the senior medical officer. Dr. G Srinivas Rao, director of public health said the unhygienic conditions in these could be the major reason. Although, the count of cases has come down since September and steps to correct this has been started.
