TREATMENT OF AUTO-IMMUNITY WITH INHIBITION OF DNA REPAIR
27 Dec 2018
OGG1 inhibitor, which can help in repairing oxidated DNA has been discovered by the scientists of University of Sheffield. This could lead to advancement in treatment of various auto immune disorders like Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Sepsis, Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, Lung inflammation etc. This could prevent the onset of inflammation thus reducing the chance of such disorders. According to the researchers and other scientists this breakthrough could be a better alternative to other anti-inflammatory drugs as our own immune system will not attack itself. They have isolated the inhibitor which can switch this response off.
