Vitamin B2 is a very important part of the human body. Riboflavin or simply Vitamin B2 is needed for growth and overall good health. Adding on, it also helps in breaking down carbohydrates, proteins and fats for the production of energy, and allows the levels of oxygen to be consumed by the body. This vitamin is rich in sources like eggs, nuts, Avocados, Cayenne, Currants, Fortified cereals, Kelp, Lima beans, Navy beans, Peas, Molasses, Mushrooms, and dairy products. Deficiency of this vitamin causes dryness and cracking of the skin around the nose and mouth, red, dry tongue – called magenta tongue, skin rash, anemia, weakness and fatigue, vision problems – red, sore or watering eyes, and blurred vision. To prevent its imbalance, B-complex supplementation is required.
