Vitamin B5 is also called pantothenic acid. It’s essential for making blood cells, healthy skin, oxidizing fatty acid and carbohydrates etc. Deficiency causes acne, headache, fatigue, gastrointestinal problems and in rare cases, paraesthesia. Deficiency can be treated by having doctor prescribed medicines rich in vitamin B5 and foods like broccoli, cabbage, white and sweet potatoes, whole grain cereals, nuts, peas, dairy products can help. Other uses of vitamin B5 includes treating acne, ADHD, alcoholism, allergies, celiac disease. It’s also used in healthcare products for hair and skin products, moisturizers. There are no known side effects for B5 medicines.
