Worlds first baby born from transplanted uterus of a deceased Donor
02 Jun 2019
Dr. Mat Brannstrom is the man who started the idea of uterus transplantation from living donors. Births using transplanted wombs are now on the rise. Recently, a group of Brazilian doctors successfully oversaw a uterus transplant from a deceased donor which culminated in the delivery of the world’s first baby born this way. This method could open a wider range for uterus transplants and can also put some light on mysteries surrounding pregnancies. This also proves that deceased donors are also viable options. However, previous attempts from other countries has failed and the Brazilian team is planning two more transplants.
