Possible cure for Tourettes Syndrome
03 May 2019
Multiple Rutgers University Scientists, International team of scientists and doctors have studied and revealed the genetic causes of Tourettes Syndrome to some extent. They believe that this Disorder may be as complex as autism, epilepsy and intellectual disability. There study has been published in the journal ‘Cell Reports’. The study suggests that Tourettes Syndrome is caused by rare damaging mutations in specific genes or through structural mutations known as copy number variants (CNVs) spanning multiple genes. CNVs occur more often in children with Tourette’s than those without. CNVs change the structure of the DNA either through damaging or depletion. Some more research is under process before a strong cause of the Tourette’s syndrome can be established.
